I graduated from Wayne State in 1969, Married my wife of 46 years, Carol (Dan Lohmeier's sister) August 1969. Started teaching Industrial Education in South Omaha, 1970. Taught classes during the day and went to grad school (UNO) at night. Got Masters in 1972. In 1986 I was recruited to teach at North High. I taught in same room as I had as a student 1961-1965. I was instrumental in starting the Engineering/Computer Magnet program along with Ken Koop who has retired. I continued teaching Engineering and Architectural Graphics (CAD) until I retired from North in 2002. Those of you attending the North High tour Saturday morning, check out the new Engineering wing. It is state of the art!

I then joined in the grocery business (Albertson/Baker's) where I retired this year after 12 years in the produce department.

School Story

Things I can remember after 50 years??? Selling elevator passes to freshman. Hanging slinkys out physics teacher (Harold Dalley's) second floor windows trying to touch the ground. He was old and didn't know-or else -didn't care. Mr. Luther's study hall which was in the basement by the music wing. He ruled with an iron fist. If you were there and remember, you will know what I'm talking about.

I remember the shop teachers. Elmer Helligso was my drafting teacher. He inspired me to become a teacher. Mr. Helligso was at North High his whole teaching career. Those of you who took his classes--he was selected to be a Viking Of Distinction. His picture hangs in the hall outside of the auditorium.
